C Is The New A

C-List BloggerVia Stephen Downes, a way to measure what I already suspected! However, if one applies the thinking behind the new Federal Government school reports, then C is where you want to be. As was coined around our school, “C is the new A”.

Works for me.

I used to teach at a certain Vocational College, where I coined the phrase “A Centre of Competence.”

Part of this was due to the fact that we were in fact delivering and assessing lots of VTE, or VET as it was then called. Part of it was also to show how ‘competence’ has some connotations, which in the right light appear somewhat negative. Anyone who has assessed VTE knows that competence is what is indeed assessed, but it looks poor in comparison to looking for excellence.
