Great post, and very interesting video too. As I was reading I was reminded of a piece on a current affairs show here in New Zealand a few nights ago. It's about NZ's newest school, Mission Heights Primary and Junior College in Auckland, and it's described by the host as, "the future of teaching, here right now". No text books, no exercise books, no pens. The children wear smart cards around their necks which they can use to access their files anywhere in the school. They have a full time technician, who was hired before any teaching staff were appointed. The video is available online and is definitely worth looking at in light of your post.
